The popular Dine with Shamu show, which was cancelled after the death of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau last year, will resume at SeaWorld Orlando and the other SeaWorld locations this spring. WESH-2 News in Orlando reports that there will be changes to the show and the guest viewing/dining area, but the orca responsible for Brancheau’s death right after a Dine with Shamu performance in February 2010—a killer whale named Tilikum—will not be part of the show.
Dine with Shamu will return to the San Antonio SeaWorld park before being reinstated at the Orlando and San Diego locations. Currently the orcas at SeaWorld Orlando perform in Believe, while dolphins, circus acrobats and other flying creatures are featured in Blue Horizons. Other live shows at SeaWorld Orlando include the sea lion antics of Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island, Pets Ahoy (featuring dogs, cats and other furry friends) and A’Lure the Call of the Ocean.
