Best Caribbean destination #1 is the Cayman Islands

Trip Advisor's -Traveler's Choice Destinations has come out with their top 25 Caribbean destinations and the Cayman Islands are ranked number one.  Interestingly, vacation packages to the Cayman Islands are among the most affordable in the Caribbean.



The Cayman Islands like other Caribbean vacation destinations is a British Overseas Territory.  Unlike some places like the Bahamas which are made up of hundreds of islands, the Cayman Islands are made up of only 3 islands.  Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. These islands are rather flat unlike the hilly Virgin Islands. The Cayman Islands have more registered businesses than people and enjoy the highest standard of living among all the Caribbean islands.  Unlike many other island nations, the Cayman Island have their own currency.  Don't worry though the exchange rate is set to 1.25 U.S. dollar

Cayman Islands are a popular cruise ship stop, but are probably most famous as an offshore banking haven.  In recent years they have come under scrutiny from the U.S. and EU governments as they try to curb money laundering operations.  There is no income tax, corporate tax or capital gains taxes ( I can see why businesses like to incorporate here).  Only imports are hit with import duties.

As you can imagine the beaches on Grand Cayman are as nice as anywhere in the Caribbean.  Scuba diving is popular here as the clarity of the water is unmatched.  I am leaning toward taking my wife here for our anniversary trip as the Cayman Islands appear to have everything you could want for your best Caribbean vacation.  I'm finding the best deals there on Book It.
